Week 6 - Term 3 (20.08.13)
English
Speech Writing
This week you will need to prepare a 3 minute speech on a topic of your choice.
I would like you to focus on the 3M's: Matter - Make your speech interesting Method - Make sure it has a clear structure (Intro, body, conclusion) Manner - Present it well This is the speech that you will be more heavily marked on for your speaking mark for your reports. You will have 1 week to get the speech finished for homework but I will also give you some extra time in class to get ready for it. The class winner will present their speech in the hall in front of the whole stage. The winner of the stage competition will go through to the Penrith Valley Speaking Competition Finals. Good luck and remember to add your own personality to the speech. The speeches will be given in class next Tuesday. |

Converting from mixed numbers to improper fractions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shpf9krdXQQ
Mixed numbers to improper fractions Convert the following mixed numbers to improper fractions: * 2 and 3/4 = * 4 and 3/5 = * 3 and 2/6 = * 5 and 2/3 = * 7 and 5/6 = * 9 and 3/4= * 8 and 4/7 = * 6 and 3/8 = Convert from improper fractions to mixed numbers
When you convert from an improper fraction to a mixed number, remember that it is just a division question!
For example: * 11/5 = 11 divided by 5 (How many 5's are in 11?) = 2 with one left over = 2 and 1/5 (the 1 remainder is the numerator and since you divided by 5, that is the denominator) Convert the following improper fractions into mixed numbers: * 11/6 = * 7/3 = * 14/5 = * 17/6 = * 13/9 = * 34/8 = * 33/4 = * 44/7 = * 56/9 = * 55/8 = IXL
